Viking Knit is an ancient Viking method used to make ornamental embellishment by weaving metal wire to form tubes. This is a more complex double weave which adds density and is visually striking, yet simple. The ends are finished with decorative cut-out end caps with a small but very strong magnetic clasp.
Gemstones are added for a pizzazz – turquoise, amber, amazonite, citrine, rainbow moonstone, quartz, and an abalone shell.
Pictured are bracelets using two different silver wires with completely different looks. The bright silver of Argentium wire – which is a relatively new alloy of silver similar to sterling, looks like pure silver which is brighter with a higher resistance to tarnish. Sterling silver wire allows the piece to be antiqued which adds the dark oxidation of the interior, however, sterling is more prone to further tarnish.
